Halo Infinite Introduces King of the Hill to Firefight Mode
- 273
The Firefight mode, drawing inspiration from the Horde mode in the Gears of War series, was initially introduced in Halo 3: ODST. It has since become a staple in most subsequent major releases within the Halo series, extending to include Halo Infinite.
A new version titled Firefight: King of the Hill adheres closely to its original roots as established in ODST but introduces some variations detailed on Halo Waypoint:
"We have designed our variation of Firefight to evoke a sense of familiarity among veterans. Teams of four Spartans will battle against successive waves of Banished enemies aiming for victory...or facing defeat. It's a purely PvE challenge—focusing on co-op gameplay rather than competition against other players—where your squad takes on the diverse enemy lineup from Halo Infinite's single-player campaign.
As gameplay commences, a "hill" will appear. Your objective is to prevent increasingly challenging groups of Banished adversaries from seizing control over this area. You must conquer and maintain dominance over the hill until it's fully captured by you and your team. Additionally, reaching certain capture milestones triggers a Boss Wave, bringing forth an onslaught of especially tough opponents led by either a prominent High-Value Target or Boss character."
