The Toddler Deluxe Ghost-Spider Costume Gives Little Spider Fans a Hood, a Web Cape and Glitter. Check the Size Before You Buy
Gwen Stacy has had one of the strangest careers in comics. For decades she was Peter Parker's girlfriend in the regular Spider-Man books, and that was it. Then, in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, published in September 2014, writer Jason Latour and artist Robbi Rodriguez imagined a world where the spider bit Gwen instead of Peter. That hooded, white-suited hero became Spider-Gwen, later took the name Ghost-Spider and is now one of Marvel's most popular characters. Hailee Steinfeld voices her in the Spider-Verse movies, and Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse is set for June 18, 2027. For the littlest fans, though, Ghost-Spider is the hero from Disney Junior's Spidey and His Amazing Friends, the show that's been teaching preschoolers about teamwork since 2021. HalloweenCostumes.com sells a Girl's Toddler Deluxe Marvel Ghost Spider Costume under its own FUN Costumes label, priced at $39.99 to $69.99.
That price range is wide, and the reason is the sizes, which go beyond toddlers. Here's what's in the bag, how the sizes work, how it compares to the cheaper Ghost-Spider on the site and how to make it work for a small kid on Halloween night.
Who Ghost-Spider is to a toddler
For a 2- or 3-year-old, Ghost-Spider isn't a comic book character or a movie star. She's Gwen, one of the three heroes on Spidey and His Amazing Friends, alongside Peter Parker and Miles Morales. She's smart and quick, and her signature look is the hood. Spidey and Miles don't have one, so the hood is how little kids tell her apart.
That's good news for a toddler costume. This one pairs the hood with a small eye mask, which is much easier for a little kid to wear than a full face mask.
What's in the bag
The Deluxe Ghost-Spider costume (item FUN96166TD) is officially licensed by Marvel and part of the site's "Made By Us" line. It includes three pieces: a jumpsuit with an attached hood, a pair of gloves and an eye mask.
The jumpsuit is a stretchy spandex blend, 92% polyester and 8% spandex, with four-way stretch. That means it stretches both up and down and side to side, which helps it move with a toddler who never stops moving. It has a glitter-print spider on the front and closes with hook-and-loop down the center back.
The hood is attached to the jumpsuit and has web graphics. And there's a webbed cape sewn into the sides of the jumpsuit, which gives the suit those web "wings" under the arms when your kid lifts them up. Kids love that detail. Arms up means instant superhero.
The gloves are fully printed spandex. The eye mask is foam-backed jersey knit with an elastic band.
The listing describes the colors as purple with turquoise and pink accents, a hexagonal pattern and pink scalloped details on the legs. That's not the classic white-and-black Spider-Gwen suit from the comics. So if your kid has a specific version of Ghost-Spider in mind, look closely at the product photos before you order.
Why "deluxe" matters here
The deluxe label isn't just marketing on this one. Compared with a basic toddler costume, it adds three things.
The four-way stretch spandex fits closer and moves better than plain jersey. The web cape gives it a shape that looks great in photos. And the gloves finish the look, so you're not hunting for a pair of tiny gloves the night before Halloween.
How the sizes work
Despite the "toddler" name, this costume comes in five sizes: 18 Months, 2T, 4T, X-Small and Small. The X-Small and Small are kids' sizes, so this costume can fit a lot of preschoolers and young school-age kids too.
The pricing changes a lot by size. The 18 Months and 2T cost $39.99. The 4T and X-Small cost $49.99. And the Small costs $69.99, which is $20 more than the size below it.
The size chart lists six measurements.
The 18 Months measures 19.5 inches all around the body, with an 11.4-inch sleeve, a 17-inch torso and an 11.9-inch inseam. The 2T is 20.5 inches all around, with a 13-inch sleeve, 17.6-inch torso and 12.5-inch inseam. The 4T is 21.5 inches all around, with a 14.5-inch sleeve, 18.5-inch torso and 15.5-inch inseam.
The X-Small has a 23-inch chest, 22.5-inch waist and 25-inch hips, with a 15.8-inch sleeve, 19.8-inch torso and 17-inch inseam. And the Small has a 25-inch chest, 24.5-inch waist and 27-inch hips, with a 17.8-inch sleeve, 21.3-inch torso and 19.5-inch inseam.
What the size chart tells you
A few things stand out.
There's no 3T. The chart jumps from 2T to 4T. If your kid is a 3T, you'll have to choose between a snug 2T and a roomier 4T. For a stretchy jumpsuit on a growing toddler, the 4T is usually the safer pick. A little extra length can be rolled at the ankles. A torso that's too short pulls every time your kid sits down.
The toddler sizes are cut straight. On the three toddler sizes, the chest, waist and hip numbers all match. That's normal for little kids, who don't have much of a waist yet, and it means the suit won't pinch at the middle.
The torso is the key number. For a jumpsuit, torso length decides whether it's comfortable. Measure from the top of your kid's shoulder, down the front, between the legs and up the back to the same shoulder. Compare that to the chart.
The chart doesn't list height or weight. So you'll need to measure, or go by the size your kid wears in pajamas, which tend to fit close like this suit.
Making it toddler-friendly
Toddler costumes have their own rules. Here's how to make this one easier.
Try it on at home first. Put the suit on for a few minutes, a few days before Halloween. Let your kid run around in it and sit on the floor a few times. If anything bunches or pulls, you'll know in time to exchange.
Don't fight about the eye mask. A lot of toddlers won't keep a mask on, and that's fine. Gwen's hood is the most recognizable part of her look, and it's attached to the suit. The mask is great for a photo, then it can go in your pocket.
The same goes for the gloves. Little hands get hot and sticky, and toddlers want to feel their candy. Gloves on for pictures, off for trick-or-treating is a good plan.
Plan for bathroom breaks and diaper changes. The suit closes with hook-and-loop down the back, and the listing doesn't mention any snaps at the crotch. So a diaper change or a potty break means opening the back and sliding the suit down. Practice once at home so it's not a surprise in a stranger's bathroom.
Think about the feet. The suit doesn't include shoe covers. Any pair of sneakers will work. The site recommends Girl's Patent White Gogo Boots for $29.99, which look sharp with a superhero suit, but make sure your kid can walk well in them before Halloween.
Keeping warm, or cool
Spandex is thin and fits close, so there isn't much room for layers. On a cold night, a thin long-sleeve shirt and leggings underneath will work if you sized up. Otherwise, a jacket on top for the walk between houses is the easiest fix. Ghost-Spider can take it off for the doorbell.
On a warm night, the thin fabric is a plus. Just keep the hood down when your kid isn't posing.
How it compares to the cheaper Ghost-Spider
The site also sells a Girl's Toddler Ghost Spider Costume by Jazwares for $39.99 in every size. It's a different design, and it's worth comparing.
The Jazwares version includes a hooded jumpsuit with attached foam-backed shoe covers and a foam eye mask. It's 100% polyester jersey knit, closes with hook-and-loop down the back and has an elastic waistband. It's a white suit, closer to the classic Spider-Gwen look. And it comes in 2T, 3T/4T, X-Small and Small.
So here's the difference. The Jazwares costume is cheaper in the bigger sizes, includes shoe covers and has a combined 3T/4T size. The deluxe FUN Costumes version adds four-way stretch spandex and the web cape, plus glitter details and gloves, and it starts as small as 18 months.
If your kid is in the Small size, the price gap is $30. If your kid is 18 months to 2T, both cost $39.99, and the deluxe is the better deal.
For older girls, the site also has a Girl's Spider-Gwen Zentai Suit Costume for $69.99 to $89.99, a Girl's Marvel Spider-Gwen Jumpsuit Costume for $44.99 and a Girl's Ghost Spider Spider-Man Costume Dress on sale for $29.99 to $39.99. And there's a Girl's Marvel Ghost Spider Costume Value Mask for $12.99.
Making it a team
On Spidey and His Amazing Friends, Gwen never works alone. She's part of a team with Peter and Miles, and a sibling or cousin can join in. The site sells Spider-Man and Miles Morales costumes in toddler and kid sizes, so building the whole team is easy.
For grown-ups who want to match, there's an Adult Spider-Gwen Costume on sale for $59.99 to $79.99 and a Women's Spider-Gwen Zentai Suit Costume for $79.99. A mom-and-daughter Ghost-Spider pair would be very cute, and very on brand for the Spider-Verse, where there's a different version of every hero.
What it costs
The costume costs $39.99 for an 18 Months or 2T, $49.99 for a 4T or X-Small and $69.99 for a Small. Since the gloves and eye mask are included, you won't need much else. A pair of sneakers from home, or the $29.99 white gogo boots, finishes the look.
So for most toddlers, the full costume costs $39.99 to $49.99. That's very reasonable for a deluxe licensed superhero suit with this much detail.
Summary
The Girl's Toddler Deluxe Marvel Ghost Spider Costume from FUN Costumes is a three-piece set with a four-way stretch jumpsuit, an attached hood, a webbed cape, gloves and an eye mask, for $39.99 to $69.99. It comes in five sizes, from 18 months to a kids' Small, but skips 3T, so measure your kid's torso before choosing. It's the more detailed option compared with the $39.99 Jazwares Ghost-Spider, especially in the smallest sizes, where both cost the same.
So, is it worth it?
For toddlers who love Spidey and His Amazing Friends, yes, especially in the 18 Months and 2T sizes. At $39.99, it's the same price as the basic Ghost-Spider on the site, and you get stretchier fabric and gloves, plus that web cape. The hood also makes it one of the more toddler-friendly superhero costumes out there, since no one has to wear a full mask.
I'll admit the missing 3T bothers me. It's one of the most common toddler sizes, and a lot of parents will be stuck guessing. But with a stretchy suit, sizing up to the 4T is usually the right call.
So measure your kid's torso, pick the bigger size if they're between two and do a test run at home. Let them keep the mask in your pocket if they want. Then put up the hood, lift those web wings and send your little hero out to save the neighborhood. With a bag of candy as backup, of course.
