How to Suit Up the Whole Incredibles Family, From Mr. Incredible to Jack-Jack

  • Ethan Montgomery

The Incredibles came out on November 5, 2004. It won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature, made $631.6 million worldwide and gave us one of the best family costumes ever drawn. Five people, one red suit design, one logo on the chest, and every member of the family has a different superpower. Incredibles 2 followed in 2018 and passed $1.24 billion at the box office, and Incredibles 3 is now set for June 16, 2028, with Peter Sohn directing. So the Parr family isn't going anywhere. HalloweenCostumes.com sells a matching deluxe set for the whole family under its own FUN Costumes label, and the dad's suit is the place to start: The Incredibles Men's Deluxe Mr. Incredible Costume, priced at $79.99 in every size.

Here's the honest part up front. The Mr. Incredible suit has no reviews yet. The matching Mrs. Incredible suit has seven, and they're very useful, because both suits are made from the same fabric. The kids' suits have one review between them. So this guide covers what's in each bag, how the sizing works, what real buyers said and what a full family will cost you.

The Mr. Incredible suit

The Deluxe Mr. Incredible costume (item FUN4711AD) is officially licensed and made exclusively by HalloweenCostumes.com. It includes four pieces: a jumpsuit, a pair of briefs, a foam eye mask with an elastic band and a pair of forearm-length gloves.

The jumpsuit is a red stretch knit, 96% polyester and 4% spandex, with a zipper down the back and the Incredibles logo printed on the front. The black parts of the suit have a faux leather coating, which gives them a little shine. The pants have elastic stirrups at the bottom and a black band that's meant to look like boot covers.

The detail that makes this the deluxe version is the padding. There's polyester fiberfill in the chest and shoulders, plus more in the thighs, so Bob Parr's famous build comes built in. That's a big deal for this character. Mr. Incredible is basically a giant triangle in a red suit, and a flat costume on a regular dad never quite looks right.

The briefs have an elastic waistband and go on over the jumpsuit, classic superhero style. They come in the box, so you don't have to hunt down a pair of black shorts.

How the sizing works for Mr. Incredible

The suit comes in XS through XL. The chest runs from 30 inches on the XS to 44 inches on the XL, and the waist from 25 to 39 inches. The torso measurement goes from 26 to 32 inches, and the sleeve from 25.25 to 27 inches.

Two things on the chart stand out. First, the inseam is 31 inches in every size. That's fine for most men, but if you're very tall or on the shorter side, the pants won't adjust much. The stirrups help, since they keep the legs pulled down, and boots hide a lot.

Second, the glove length is listed as 19 inches for the XS and 16 inches for every other size. That's probably a typo on the chart, since smaller gloves usually aren't longer. Don't plan your size around it.

The bigger question is whether the fabric runs small, and the best clue comes from the women's suit, which uses the exact same 96/4 stretch knit and the same "Made by Us" construction. Its size chart says, in plain words, "Runs Small." The Mr. Incredible chart doesn't say that. But if you're between two sizes, I'd go up. The padding takes up some room inside the suit too.

And if you need bigger sizes, there's a Plus Size Disney Incredibles Deluxe Mr. Incredible Costume for $89.99, in 2X through 5X, with chests from 46 to 58 inches. It has one review, five stars, from a buyer named adbaddley: "Perfect! Paired with boots found on this site, and some leather gauntlets and mask. Ready to debut a new character for events!"

The one plus-size buyer who reviewed it liked it a lot. That's not much to go on, but it's the same design, and it's a good sign.

A cheaper Mr. Incredible

If $79.99 is too much, the site also sells a Disguise version, the Disney The Incredibles Men's Mr. Incredible Costume, for $69.99. It's simpler, with a padded jumpsuit with printed black briefs and cuffs and a foam eye mask. No gloves, and no separate briefs.

That one has eight reviews, all five stars. Fabian, who's 6 feet tall and 200 pounds, wrote, "The large/Xl fit perfect...happy with the purchase." Teresita Ortiz, who bought a Medium, said, "Awesome costume! Material is nice and comfortable as well." So if you want a safer pick with more feedback, it's a good option. Just know it won't match the rest of the deluxe family quite as closely.

Mrs. Incredible: the suit with all the reviews

The Women's The Incredibles Deluxe Mrs. Incredible Costume (item FUN4681AD) is the partner to the men's suit. It includes a jumpsuit with a back zipper and briefs. Forearm-length gloves and a foam eye mask come with it too. It has no padding, which makes sense, since Helen's power is stretching, not muscles.

The pricing is unusual. The Large and X-Large cost $79.99, the Small and Medium cost $89.99, and the X-Small costs $129.99. I couldn't find a reason for the jump on the X-Small, so petite shoppers should check the price before adding it to the cart.

The suit has seven reviews and a 4-star average. The happy buyers love the quality. A buyer who calls herself Mrs. Incredible, at 5'7" and 137 pounds in a Medium, titled her review "Pricy but worth it!" and wrote, "This costume is on the expensive side, but it's a great quality, very comfortable, and looks amazing!" She also found a bonus: "I was pleasantly surprised THE GLOVES WORK WITH SMART PHONE SCREENS!!" Her advice: "If you're in-between sizes, I would size up."

Kelley Crawford, who's 5'1" and bought a Small, wrote, "I purchased this costume as a companion to my husband's Mr Incredible costume he purchased in 2007. It was perfect." That's my favorite review on the page. Eighteen years between costumes, and they still made a matching pair.

Laura, who bought a Small, wrote, "First off, this costume isn't the super cheap shiny polyester you see in many costume bodysuits. The quality feels amazing!" But she also said, "It was super snug on my legs and I only zipped it 3/4 because it felt like if I did more, the fabric would tear." She planned to exchange it for a Medium, and added, "The gloves were also sooo tight and I'm normally a small for latex gloves."

Christine went the other way and won. She's 5'4" and normally a Medium, but bought a Large. "Ladies, please go by the measurements!" she wrote. "I thought it was going to be too big when I took it out of the package, but I was wrong. It fit so well!"

And the two unhappy reviews are about the fabric giving out. Abbie, who bought a Small at 5'6" and 140 pounds, said it was "very snug" and "It even tore down the seam where the zipper is in the back. I recommend sizing up." Catherine, in a Medium, gave it one star: "The material is very sheer. Before the costume was on, a hole ripped on the bum."

So the pattern is clear. The quality gets praise, the fit runs tight and the fabric can tear if it's stretched too far. Measure carefully, size up when in doubt and don't force the zipper. And since Mr. Incredible is made from the same fabric, the same advice probably applies to Dad.

To finish Helen's look, the site has the Disney Incredibles Women's Mrs. Incredible Wig on sale for $7.99, down from $24.99, and an Incredible Superhero Wig for Women for $19.99. Kelley used the second one.

Violet: the quiet one

The Girl's Disney and Pixar Deluxe Violet Costume (item FUN4682CH) is the same design, scaled down. It includes a jumpsuit with a back zipper, briefs, gloves, a foam eye mask and a fabric-covered headband, which is a nice touch, since Violet's headband is a big part of her character.

Sizes run from X-Small, for kids' 5-6, up to X-Large, for 16. The chest goes from 24 to 32.5 inches, and the inseam from about 17.4 to 27.75 inches. Like Mrs. Incredible, the X-Small costs more, at $69.99, while the other four sizes are $59.99.

Violet has no reviews yet. But she's made from the same stretch knit as her mom's suit, so the "runs small" warning is worth taking seriously, especially for a growing kid. And for a tween who wants Violet's long dark hair over one eye, any long black wig will do, or her own hair brushed forward.

Dash: the fast one

The Kid's Disney and Pixar Deluxe Dash Costume (item FUN4683CH) costs $59.99 in every size. It includes a jumpsuit with a center back zipper, a mask and briefs, plus gloves and a pair of boot covers. Dash gets real boot covers instead of the stirrup band, so he looks finished even in plain sneakers.

It has one review, five stars, from Leslie Rodriguez: "Awesome material!" Short, but it lines up with what the Mrs. Incredible buyers said about the fabric.

Sizes go from X-Small, for 5-6, to X-Large, for 16, with chests from 22.5 to 31 inches. Dash's chart is a bit smaller than Violet's at each size, so don't swap the two charts if you have a boy and a girl in the same size.

One tip from me: Dash will run. That's the whole point of being Dash. A stretch jumpsuit with boot covers can slide around on a kid sprinting between houses, so pick a fit that's snug enough to stay put but loose enough to move. And maybe give him one house rule: no running faster than the rest of the family.

Jack-Jack: the wild card

For the baby, the site sells the Infant Deluxe Baby Jack Jack Costume by Disguise for $39.99. It's a different brand from the rest of the family, but it's the one you'll want. It includes a polyester jumpsuit with the Incredibles logo and a foam hood with a faux fur tuft on top, for Jack-Jack's single curl of hair.

The practical details are good. It has snaps at the crotch and inseams for diaper changes, and hook-and-loop at the neck and chin. It comes in 6/12 months and 12/18 months.

It has four reviews and a 4.8-star average, with three at five stars and one at four, though none of them include written comments. It's still a strong score for a baby costume.

If your baby rides in a carrier, there's also a Pixar Incredibles Baby Carrier Cover Costume, on sale for $4.99, down from $29.99. That's about as cheap as a costume piece gets.

Frozone and Edna for the rest of the crew

If your group is bigger than the five Parrs, the site has the two best supporting characters. The Men's The Incredibles Deluxe Frozone Costume costs $89.99 and includes a blue-and-white jumpsuit with a hood. Gloves, boot covers and smoke-tinted glasses are in the bag as well. It has no reviews yet.

The Women's Disney The Incredibles Edna Mode Costume costs $89.99 and includes a black satin dress with a pink collar, a black bob wig and round black glasses. It has two reviews and a 4.5-star average. Lisa W. wrote, "I loved this costume! Very well made!" Another buyer gave it four stars but warned, "The measurements of this dress don't mention shoulder width...extremely narrow shoulders. It was too snug in the arms." It's non-returnable once opened, so check the fit carefully.

Every family group needs someone to yell "No capes!" at the others. Edna is that person.

What the whole family costs

Here's a sample budget for the five Parrs in the deluxe line. Mr. Incredible is $79.99, Mrs. Incredible in a Medium is $89.99, Violet and Dash are $59.99 each and Jack-Jack is $39.99. That adds up to $329.95. Add the $7.99 Mrs. Incredible wig, and you're at $337.94.

That's about $68 per person, which isn't cheap. But you're getting five matching suits from the same line, and every family member except the baby gets gloves and a mask in the box.

To save money, you could swap in the $69.99 Disguise Mr. Incredible, or pick a Large or X-Large for Mom if it fits, since those sizes are $10 less. And for shoes, black boots or black rain boots from home look great with the stirrup pants.

Tips for a super family

Order early. Several buyers needed to exchange for a bigger size, and you don't want to do that the week of Halloween.

Try the suits on carefully. These are stretch knit, and two buyers had seams or fabric tear. Step in slowly, pull the fabric up in small sections and have someone else zip the back. Never yank the zipper if it's tight.

Plan for the weather. The suits are thin and stretchy, which is great for moving and not great on a cold night. A thin base layer underneath can help, but only if you sized up enough to make room.

And practice the pose. The family stands in a line, Mr. Incredible in the middle, fists on hips, with Dash doing a running start and Violet half hiding behind Mom. Jack-Jack can do whatever he wants. He always does.

Summary

The Incredibles Men's Deluxe Mr. Incredible Costume costs $79.99 and includes a padded jumpsuit with briefs, gloves and an eye mask. It has no reviews yet. The matching Mrs. Incredible suit, made from the same stretch knit, has seven. Buyers praise the quality while warning that it runs small and can tear if stretched too far. Violet and Dash cost $59.99 each, and a Disguise Jack-Jack costume is $39.99 with a 4.8-star average. A full deluxe family of five costs about $330.

So, is the Incredibles family worth it?

For families who want a matching, recognizable group costume, yes. The deluxe line is the closest you'll get to the movie suits without hiring Edna Mode. The padding on Mr. Incredible is a real upgrade, and the included gloves and masks mean almost nothing else to buy.

I'll admit the sizing makes me a little nervous. The fit complaints on Mrs. Incredible are consistent, and since the dad and kids' suits use the same fabric, I'd plan on sizing everyone up unless the measurements say otherwise. That one decision will probably make or break the whole thing.

So measure everyone, size up if you're between sizes and order early enough to exchange. Zip slowly. Then line up the family, fists on hips, and head out. And whatever Dash says, absolutely no capes.

Pros:
  • Matching deluxe suits for both parents and two kids from the same line
  • Mr. Incredible has built-in muscle padding
  • Gloves and masks come with every adult and big-kid suit
  • Mrs. Incredible buyers praise the quality, and one found the gloves work on phone screens
  • The Jack-Jack costume has a 4.8-star average and snaps for diaper changes
Cons:
  • No reviews yet for the Mr. Incredible deluxe suit or the Violet suit
  • The stretch fabric runs small, according to several Mrs. Incredible buyers
  • Two buyers reported the fabric or a seam tearing
  • The X-Small Mrs. Incredible costs $129.99, much more than other sizes
  • A full family costs about $330, before boots
