KPop Demon Hunters: Rumi

If you've spent any time around a kid in the last year, you already know the words to "Golden." You've heard it in the car, in the shower, from the back seat on repeat and probably at least once at 6:45 a.m. on a school day. KPop Demon Hunters came out on Netflix in June 2025, became Netflix's most-watched title with more than 325 million views, and then did something no animated girl group was supposed to do: "Golden" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Its lead singer, Rumi, is the half-demon with the long purple braid and a sword, and she's about to be on a lot of doorsteps this October. HalloweenCostumes.com sells the Girl's KPop Demon Hunters Classic Rumi Costume, made by Disguise, for $39.99 to $49.99, depending on size.

That's a reasonable price for the costume your kid has probably been asking about since last Halloween. But there's a catch parents should know up front: the sword and the braid aren't in the bag. Add the matching wig and the total gets closer to $80 or $90.

The Rumi costume has no reviews on HalloweenCostumes.com yet. The same Disguise costume is sold on Walmart, though, where it has a few written reviews from parents. So this review covers what's included, how the sizes work, what those parents said and what you'll need to buy separately to make it look like the movie.

What comes in the box

The Classic Rumi costume (item DI198119) is officially licensed and has two pieces: a romper and a jacket. Both are made of polyester fibers with sublimated graphics, which means the details are printed right onto the fabric rather than sewn on.

The jacket has an open front, so there are no buttons or zippers for little fingers to fight with. It just slips on over the romper. According to the Walmart listing for the same costume, the printed details include a foil-printed silver necklace, an attached printed tassel, zipper trim accents and dimensional shoulder armor. That shoulder armor is the part that makes it look like a demon hunter's stage outfit and not just a jacket from the mall.

The romper is sleeveless with shorts, so it's the kind of costume that looks great on stage and less great on a 45-degree night in Ohio. More on that in a minute.

HalloweenCostumes.com describes it as "built for kids' wear" and "sized to move and hold up through a full night." That's a good promise to make about a costume for kids who will almost certainly try to do the dance moves from the movie at every house on the block.

What's not included

The listing is clear: "sword and wig not included." For Rumi, those are the two things most people recognize first.

The wig is sold separately as the Girl's K-Pop Demon Hunters Rumi Costume Wig (item DI198139), also by Disguise, for $39.99. It's faux hair styled into a braid, on a mesh cap with an elastic band, and it fits heads from 18 to 24 inches around. It's officially licensed. There's also a Women's K-Pop Demon Hunters Rumi Costume Wig for $49.99, if a parent wants to match.

One important thing to know: the wig is non-returnable once you open the package. The listing says it in capital letters: "THIS ITEM IS NOT RETURNABLE IF YOU HAVE OPENED THE PACKAGE." So check the box carefully before you tear into it, especially if you're not sure the wig is the one your kid wants. The wig has no reviews yet.

As for the sword, HalloweenCostumes.com doesn't sell a Rumi sword. It does sell K-Pop Demon Hunters Zoey Spirit Blades for $19.99, which are Zoey's weapons, not Rumi's. Other stores do carry a Rumi sword, so you'll need to shop around, or get crafty with some cardboard, silver duct tape and a lot of patience.

How the sizes work

The Rumi costume comes in three kids' sizes, and the prices are a bit unusual. Size 4/6 is currently out of stock, with a notify-me option. Size 7/8 costs $49.99. And size 10/12, the biggest, costs $39.99. So the largest size is cheaper than the middle one, which is the kind of math that only happens in October.

The size chart gives both body measurements and height and weight ranges, which is really helpful for kids.

Size 4/6 is for kids 43 to 48.5 inches tall and 39 to 50 pounds, with a 26-inch chest, 23-inch waist and 26.5-inch hips. Size 7/8 fits kids 49 to 53 inches tall and 58 to 66 pounds, with a 29-inch chest, 26-inch waist and 30.5-inch hips. Size 10/12 fits kids 54 to 60 inches tall and 67 to 84 pounds, with a 30.5-inch chest, 27-inch waist and 32-inch hips.

Notice the gap. There's nothing between 50 and 58 pounds. If your kid falls into it, go by height first, then size up. Kids grow fast, and a romper that's slightly too big is a lot better than one that pinches.

Since the romper is a one-piece with shorts, the torso length matters too, although the chart doesn't list it. If your kid is tall and slim, check the height range carefully.

What parents on Walmart said

The same Disguise costume is sold on Walmart by Halloween Express, and the listing for size 4/6 shows a 4.4-star average from 19 ratings. A few parents left written reviews in August 2026, and they're very positive.

AnastasiiaN titled her review "We're very happy with it!" and wrote, "This Rumi costume is absolutely adorable! The colors are bright and fun, and the quality is really nice. My daughter loves it and looks so cute wearing it. It is a little oversized, but otherwise it fits well and is comfortable."

InnaM had a similar experience: "My daughter absolutely loves this Rumi costume! It looks so cute and very similar to the character. The fit is comfortable, the material feels good for a costume, and she can move around easily while wearing it. The pieces are easy to put on and fasten, and everything stayed in place while she was playing. It also feels durable enough to wear more than once."

And Gary, who bought a size 10/12, was brief and enthusiastic: "VERY impressive look and quality. I'd give it more than 5 stars if the rating let me. Well done."

A few things stand out. All three say the quality is good. Two mention comfort and movement, which matters for a costume a kid will wear for hours. And one says it runs "a little oversized," which suggests you don't need to size up unless your kid is right at the top of a range. InnaM's note that it "feels durable enough to wear more than once" is also good news. If your house is anything like most, this costume is going to be worn to school, to the grocery store and during at least three living room concerts before Halloween even gets here.

A quick note on price

At the time of writing, the Walmart listings show the same costume for less than HalloweenCostumes.com, with sizes listed at roughly $27 to $35. But some of those sizes were out of stock. Prices on both sites change a lot in October, so it's worth checking both before you buy.

HalloweenCostumes.com has the 7/8 and 10/12 sizes in stock right now, and it also sells the matching wig, which helps if you want to order everything at once.

Keeping Rumi warm

The romper is sleeveless with shorts, and the jacket is open in front. That's perfect for a Halloween party inside or a trick-or-treat night in Arizona. It's less perfect for Minnesota.

The easy fix is layers. A pair of black or purple leggings or tights under the romper looks natural with this outfit, and a fitted long-sleeve top in black or white can go under the jacket without ruining the look. Rumi's whole style is layered anyway. The site also sells Combat Military Kid's Costume Boots for $24.99 to $29.99, which are a good match for the demon-hunter look and warmer than sneakers.

If your kid is going to school in it, check the dress code for shorts rules. Leggings underneath usually solve that problem too.

Turning Rumi into HUNTR/X

Rumi is great on her own, but she's even better as part of a group. HUNTR/X is a trio, and HalloweenCostumes.com sells the other two members as well. The Girl's KPop Demon Hunters Classic Mira Costume costs $34.99 to $49.99, and the Girl's KPop Demon Hunters Classic Zoey Costume is $39.99. Both are Disguise costumes, like Rumi's.

That makes this an easy costume plan for siblings, cousins or best friends. Three kids, three members, zero arguments about who gets to be who. Well, maybe one argument.

What a full Rumi costs

Here's how the math works out on HalloweenCostumes.com. A 10/12 costume and the wig come to $79.98. A 7/8 costume and the wig come to $89.98. Add the combat boots and you're somewhere between $104.97 and $119.97, depending on sizes.

That's a lot for a kids' costume, but the costume itself is the cheapest part of the plan. The wig costs as much as the outfit in some sizes. If you're on a budget, the costume alone plus your kid's own hair in a long braid will still be recognizable. Rumi's braid is purple, so a washable purple hair spray or a few clip-in purple extensions can get you close for a lot less.

If not, a braid and some purple hair spray will do just fine.

So check the size chart by height and weight, order early before sizes sell out, grab some leggings and boots for warmth, and figure out a sword plan. Then get ready for a very long night of hearing "Golden" at every single house. Your kid will know every word. By the end of the night, so will you.
