Virtual reality enthusiasts frequently voice their frustration regarding the scarcity of major game releases in the VR realm. However, when such anticipated titles arrive, they often experience underwhelming sales. Case in point: the November 2023 launch of Assassin's Creed Nexus VR didn't meet expectations.
In Ubisoft's recent earnings call, CEO Yves Guillemot disclosed that the game's sales were merely adequate and admitted to the company's disappointment with the performance. Consequently, Ubisoft has decided against further investment in VR gaming. This decision indicates that gamers may see fewer VR releases of this caliber from the renowned French gaming company in the future.
