WhatsApp Media Autosave Disabled for Disappearing Chats
- 449
WhatsApp Disappearing Chats is finally becoming a more logical feature. The updated version of the app disables automatic media saving to your smartphone's Camera Roll or gallery when you are using disappearing chats. The feature was spotted in the February beta version of the app for the first time. More on that below.
“Media Visibility” – Off!
A popular WhatsApp tracker WABetaInfo, reports that the Meta-owned messenger is already rolling out the update globally to prevent automatic data saving from disappearing chats on both Android and iOS. All the users who install the update will receive a notification that the “Media Visibility” feature is disabled every time they enable disappearing messages.
Now the disappearing chat is finally worth its name and purpose. All the messages and media you send using this feature are automatically deleted from your and the recipient's device after a custom set period. At the moment, you have 3 options, including 1 day, 7 days, and 90 days. Before the latest update, all the media files, including images, GIFs, videos, and attachments were automatically saved on the devices of both chat participants. After the update, this won’t work in all disappearing chats, regardless of when they were created.
As the tracker says, both iOS and Android users will still be able to manually save images and other media files if they want to. The option has been tested and confirmed already.
Time to Update
As long as you don’t like the old auto-saving feature as much as we do, it’s high time to update your WhatsApp. If you still want to use auto-saving, you can simply use normal chats instead of the disappearing ones.
