YouTube to Get Podcasts Homepage & Audio Ads
- 404
The recent YouTube documentation leak reveals that the company has plans to compete with industry-leading podcast platforms like Apple and Spotify. The leaked 84-page document covers a roadmap of potential future changes in video hosting. Let’s quickly review the details!
“Looking Ahead”
The 84-page presentation allegedly produced by YouTube was first mentioned on Podnews. The document called “Looking Ahead” suggests that YouTube may get a brand new podcast homepage to expand the content database. Besides, the presentation says that YouTube will offer brands to purchase Google-powered audio ads built into all YouTube’s audio content formats, including podcasts.
Podcast creators will obtain a separate uploader for show episodes along with full-fledged audio metrics. It means that the platform will share its data with the leading podcast measurement systems by Podtrac, Nielsen, and Chartable.
Spotify Improves Too
YouTube Podcasts’ biggest future rival Spotify doesn’t stop improving its app too. The company is working on a brand new audio newsfeed to make it easier for you to discover new podcasts. This feed is also said to replicate TikTok’s breakthrough vertical layout, but it will include podcast clips by Spotify creators instead of video content. The new feed is reportedly based on an algorithm by Podz. It will automatically select the most relevant podcast clips.
Do We Need It?
With so many podcast-streaming services on the market, YouTube Podcasts may appear to be not competitive enough. On the other hand, users who like both YouTube and podcasts may prefer to have both content formats in a single app. Do you like the idea of YouTube Podcasts? Will you use it instead of your current podcast app or not? Tell us what you think in the comments and share this leak report with friends.
