Harley, the 1992 edition

The Classic Harley Quinn costume (item FUN98855AD) is a Made By Us design by the store's own FUN Costumes label, and it's officially licensed by DC. It comes with six pieces: a jumpsuit, a collar, a pair of gloves, a pair of wrist cuffs, a hood and a mask.

The jumpsuit is the main event. It's 95% polyester and 5% spandex with four-way stretch, a center-back zipper and a printed red-and-black diamond design. That's the key detail, since the diamonds are printed on rather than sewn in panels. From across a room, it looks like the cartoon. Up close, it looks like a very well-made printed bodysuit, which is fine for a party and maybe less fine if you're entering a cosplay contest judged by someone with a magnifying glass.

The collar is satin with pom poms and closes with hook-and-loop. The wrist cuffs are satin too. The hood is spandex with pom poms and a horn structure, so the two points stand up instead of flopping over your ears like a sad jester who's had a long day. The mask is foam with an elastic band. The gloves are spandex.

The listing says the costume captures "Harley's whole vibe" without the criminal consequences, which is a fair pitch. Harley's classic look is basically a jumpsuit with accessories, and this set includes every accessory from the show. There's nothing missing except the face paint and the attitude.

What you still need for Harley

The shirt buttons down the front and at the cuffs. The gloves are lightweight knit and pull on.

And the tie, according to the listing, "will actually need to be tied." That's a very honest product description. For a lot of people, it's also a very good reason to open YouTube the night before the party.

The size chart runs from X-Small to X-Large. Jacket chest goes from 36 inches up to 44, and jacket length from 23 to 25 inches. The pants waist ranges are fairly narrow for elastic: 24 to 28 inches on the X-Small, up to 32 to 36 inches on the X-Large. The outseam is 42 inches on the two smallest sizes and 43 on the rest.

The Silver Age Joker has eight reviews and a 3.6-star average, and they're all over the place.

The happy ones are really happy. Juan Zambrano, who ordered a Medium, wrote, "Costume is fantastic! Fits amazing snd looks amazing! Couldn't have imagined a better joker costume! The price is definitely worth it for this costume! I would recommend this costume a million times out of a million!" P.C. bought it for a daughter who loves the Joker and said, "this Had EVERYTHING!!!!!" Three more buyers left five-star or three-star ratings with no text.

The unhappy ones are specific, and most of it is about sizing and build quality. One buyer ordered an X-Small for her husband, who's 5'5" and 114 pounds, after measuring him against the chart. "Upon arrival, the entire costume was too baggy and everything was labeled 'Extra Small' but looked more like a medium," she wrote. It comes with a mask and pants, plus a combo top that fakes the whole jacket-over-vest look in one piece, all in 100% polyester fabric with polyurethane foam. The jacket is purple, with a foam vest front and a green shirt inset built in. It closes with hook-and-loop. The pants are pinstriped with an elastic waistband, and the mask is molded latex with an elastic security band.

The combo top is simpler than the Silver Age set, since the vest and shirt aren't separate pieces. That means less layering and no tie to fight with, but it also looks more like a costume and less like a real suit. For a party, that's probably fine.

Its size chart is roomy. The Medium has a 48-inch chest and a 38-inch jacket length, with a 24- to 36-inch elastic waist and 40.5-inch pants. The X-Large is listed at a 56-inch chest and 56-inch jacket length, which looks unusual and is worth double-checking with customer service if that's your size.

What Modern Joker buyers said

The Modern Joker has six reviews and a 3.7-star average. Most of them are older, going back to 2013, which tells you this costume has been around a while.
